Our group has recently become official, the Tulsa Turants, I have a steel kit, but I heard rumors that titanium would be allowed either in 2016 or 2017. If so I would like to know so that a few pieces of my kit are legal, if titanium will not be legal I will have it made of hardened spring steel, thanks
The ACL has no plan to shift to titanium at this time
Is it legal for a fighter to use oxygen in the middle of a match?
Where did you get your armor?
Is your group still active? If so my email is email@example.com email me I've been interested in ACL for awhile now. I live in Cushing, so we could make it work
Titanium is most likely not going to be allowed because the sparks burn very hot.
Any rules on traditional halberds?
How old do I have to be to join a team because I'll be 16 soon and I would love to do this stuff and are there any organizations around Pittsburgh or Cleveland

How old do I have to be To join a team. I'm 15?
Hey Aaron, you have to be 18
i would like to form a team in southern NJ how would i go about doing this?

There is also another Chapter in that area, the Philly Rhinos.

Hi, I am looking into joining the sport but have many questions about it, and answers so far have been hard to come by. For example;
What is the latest style armor allowed? Gothic? Maximilian? 16th Century?
Is a surcoat required to be worn over the breastplate?
Is home-forged armor allowed?
Are the gauges listed for helm requirements minimums or maximums?
How historically accurate are the pieces required to be? For example, home forged armor wont have the same quality as an original suit of Gothic Plate, but as long as it is similar/accurate is it allowed? Also, how far apart can any two pieces of armor be? Can a 1580's helm and 1550's gauntlets be used together?
Also, if there is a place for all of this information, where can I find it? Any help is appreciated, I have high hopes for this sport! Cheers mates!
Was wondering if you got your answers. I got the same questions. I just found out about this sport trying to find good info.
I was wondering the same thing.
Is the armor requirement a minimum gauge? Can the metal be slightly thicker or must it be exactly what is listed?
Where do I find gear that's up for the beating but won't break the bank. I want quality but if there's a way to find sets or piece by piece that's a little bet more cost friendly
A few of my buddies and I are interested we are starting our builds on weaponry and protection we hope to so you all soon we live in northern Michigan Cadillac any helpful advised would be welecom and a predicated thank you
I am so very happy that a thing like this exist in our modern day and ageand want to join as soon as possible but have some questions that need some answering.
Fist off i need to know how old you have to be to join? Im going to be 19 years of age by early may of this year and am trying to join for the fall season.
Second about the armor costs and weapon costs. Where can i buy the required armor and weapons and how much do they cost and is there any retailers located in New Hampshire?
Third can i still join and combat with others if i have a condition? I have type one diabetes and have it well managed but im concerned that i will be turned away because of my condition?
Fourth what kind of condition do you have to be in. Like height, weight, strenght and good endurance level? I dont go to the gym but i run around my neighborhood and do at least 4 mile runs with my dog and split wood often. Finally i want to know if i have to take a training course to be able to join the ACL.
I look very forward to hopefully joining this sport and joining the ACL.
From what I have read you have to be 18 there are links on the main pg to order gear and links to other things my buddies and I are just gitting into this as well so if you ever want to chat about it go ahead and contact me.
when do you and your buddies plan on starting and do you live anywhere near New Hampshire? i will join up with you if you'd have me and if you are anywhere near my location. i have looked at the links for armor they sell but there isn't really much of a variety and the things i have seen are very expensive. i know it wont be a easy dollar to get your first set of armor but anything under 2,000 would be a reasonable price for me.
Are the A.C.L armor rules the same as the S.C.A? the reason I ask is I found a sca starter kit of armor for a little over 2000$ would this be usable in the A.C.L?
Is there any rule against using the murder stroke or would that just be considered pommeling?
That would be considered a warhammer I'm sure, because the purpose of the murderstroke is essentially to improvise a warhammer.
And warhammers are prohibited.
Actually the murder stroke was used to counteract knights with heavy armor, much like the mace (which is legal). It wasn't necessarily used to improvise anything, rather it was something that was used in order to still use your weapon effectively if one were to not have the proper equipment on hand. Also just because someone is using the murder stroke does not necessarily mean that that individual is going to be using it to strike with the hand guard or pommel, but one can use the hand guard as a sort of hook in order to pull their opponent to the ground. just an idea that I believe needs to be cleared up. Also another question would half-swording be an eligible and legal tactic? I know stabbing motions are illegal, but you can still slash and do many different things with a half-sword technique.
A murderstroke is practically a warhammer. Maces that are not allowed im sure is maximum of 1 kg while a longsword is gonna be like 2.5 kg.
Sooooo, no, dont do tbe murder stroke.
Just a curious question. But would samurai armor from iron mountain armory be legal?
Hey I'm 19 and I'm very interested in joining the ACL but it seems to me that there is not a lot of direction in how to get appropriate armor and how to go about joining, so if someone could help me on the right track it would be much help!
I have been searching as well.
Scroll down, there's a map and join button. These are major teams made up of smaller teams, so if one isn't close, there might be some practice near you. A lot of people make their own armor, and if you ask to use some loaner gear, you can start training while you save for or make armor and weapons.
Possibly Age of Craft could work?
Hey are there weight classes
Not that I am aware.
Is anyone considering starting a chapter in the Snohomish County, WA area?
I am very interested in this and as far as I can tell my closest chapter is in Idaho.
Only takes 3 to start a chapter. Have you asked any friends if they would be interested?
What are the rules for Knight fights ?
Is thrusting permitted in singles ?
Thrusting is not permitted at all.
I would like to join but I don't know where to start or how. I am 21 years old. I live in a small town in Utah just outside of Ogden called plain city. I don't want to but cheep armor and I do not know what I need to buy in order to join and fight. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey, I was wondering if individual portions of the armor had to match each other historically. Like if I were to buy a Norman helmet and match that with a Germanic plate armor instead of a hauberk, would that be okay?
Good afternoon gents, I have an inquiry, is the use of a Zweihander(or Montante) allowed in ACL? I'm curious to know if it is allowed?
Is there a team in Nevada?
This should help
What are the rules on flails?
Is a 18 Gage suit of armor be good
Is there a league near Cincinnati Ohio I would like to join or start my own
Would sweeping the legs be striking under the strike zone. Like sweeping the legs while striking in the strike zone?
Yes, that’s legal.
Hello, I just wanted to ask if kult of athena offers armor that is functional enough for the league
and if that is not the case is there a website that offers cheap yet functional medieval armor ?
thank you for your time
I’m not sure about KoA armor. You would have to check the gauge of the steel.
Nick, or whomever may know, what is the minimum gauge allowed/recommended for ACL combat?
What is the best steel to use, Hardened, Stainless (Alloy), etc.?
I’m still a beginner, but I think 1mm is minimum thickness for armor besides helmet? And for best steel I’m not entirely sure. I have a spring steel kit with 11g helmet.
I've purchased a membership, but haven't received anything, or been linked up with anybody. What should I expect? A packet? A letter? The details with the receipt were unclear as to what to expect, or how long to wait.
If it may help, new member from Lake Odessa MI. Between Grand Rapids and Lansing.
I am looking into possibly joining in this I've always lived mideval combat esseciespe the sports keagul carrying on this noble tradition. If I were to join I'd like to know if there are any chapters near coeur d'alene Idaho and what is the usual price for basic armour and weapons and is there a retailer I can buy from near by as well if anyone has any info email me and we can discuss this further I'd be most appreciative. thank you
I'm also curious what weapons are not permitted I know it must match not only the time period but the origin of your armours ethnic backround such as Germanic or English, Anglo Saxon and such. But what's not permitted id assume soears since there is no thrusting allowed.
What is the process behind trying out/competing if you are new to the sport?
Closest chapter to me is Dallas. Is there someone I can reach out to? Thanks!
